Existential blues ...

We've already posted a number of quotes here, and a couple of poems ... but Montana has also been the subject of a surprising number of popular songs. Unfortunately, most of them are pretty bad. Here's a line from my unquestioned favorite, a song called "Existential Blues," by a guy named Tom "T-Bone" Stankus. It was played pretty frequently on Dr. Demento's syndicated radio show.

You ask so many questions, what answers should I choose?
Is this really Butte, Montana or just existential blues?

  1. Certainly better then:

    "Movin to Montana soon
Gonna be a Dental Floss tycoon"

  2. Ha! You beat me to it.

Expect that Zappa line to be used in a post here someday, though. :)

  3. Here's some tuneful history I'd never heard...chilling in its awful relevance.
