North Fork sunrise ...

Eating pizza with a friend on Saturday night, the subject of Polebridge came up ... and that was impetus enough for me to dig up another photo from one of my favorite parts of the world. I took this shot last fall during an early-morning drive up the North Fork valley -- this is a mile or two south of Polebridge, looking east towards Glacier Park.

  1. A little sun goes such a long way in making a place really appealing. Nice timing.

  2. That was one of the most gorgeous mornings I'd ever seen ... a great reward for being an early bird, which is unusual for me.

But it's hard to go wrong when photographing that part of the world.

  5. Oh wow--here it is, the same fenceline, from the same spot. Beautiful picture! Mist on the fields, golden sunrise, early morning I'm assuming. Much more mysterious than mine, shot in the flat light of afternoon.

  6. Thanks ... I totally lucked out that morning. An unexpected benefit of waking up early in Kalispell one day, and deciding that I needed to have baked goods from Polebridge for breakfast. :)

  8. You don't know?? The Polebridge Mercantile is home to the best bakery in the known universe ... and I'm not exaggerating! I've been known to make a 600-mile, one-day round-trip from Bozeman to Polebridge, just to buy their homemade cookies.

You need to head back this summer on an empty stomach. :)

  9. No, I have apparently been ignorant of this gem-of-a-bakery for all these years! We're staying in Coram for a week in June, so I'll make a point of checking it out. I'm mostly looking forward to the drive though.

Not 600 miles--well, more than that I think to get home...but the one up into the North Fork.
